Dear South Lane Families,
We are reaching out following the devastating tragedy at Silver Rail Elementary in Bend. Whenever violence impacts a school community, especially one right here in Oregon, it hits close to home for all of us. It really hurts, and our hearts are with our neighbors, friends and families in Bend.
First and foremost, we want to reassure you that protecting our students and staff remains a top priority. We maintain safety protocols in all buildings, in close coordination with our local emergency responders. You may notice an increased presence of local law enforcement around our schools, as they are here to show support for our community and to remind us of their constant partnership in keeping our kids safe.
News like this takes an emotional toll, and it is completely natural for both adults and children to feel shaken. Please look out for one another and check in with your students. If your child needs added support, reach out to your school's administration or counselor, our staff stands ready to help and coordinate resources.
